KING THARRAWADDY ( 1837-1846 )
King Tharrawaddy, with a strong antipathy toward the city of his brother Bagyidaw whom he had deposed, expressed his desire to establish himself in a new city in May 1837.But his advisers, in particular his daughter, advised against founding a the city that year, 1199 ME, because that year was inauspicious. It was, therefore, on 22 Feb.1839, which was auspicious, that the city of Amarapura abandoned by Bagyidaw was rebuilt.
