King Tharrawaddy,
with a strong antipathy toward the city of his brother
Bagyidaw whom he had deposed, expressed his desire to
establish himself in a new city in May 1837.But his advisers,
in particular his daughter, advised against founding a
the city that year, 1199 ME, because that year was inauspicious.
It was, therefore, on 22 Feb.1839, which was auspicious,
that the city of Amarapura abandoned by Bagyidaw was rebuilt.
The Golden palace, Glass palace, sanu zaung (covered
passage or hall connecting two main halls), samok zaung(gate-house)
in Ta-baung 1200 (Feb.Mar. 1839). The lists and tables
