When parabaik are steadfastly searched and collected, black parabaik are the most common. Illustrated parabaik are so rare that very few of these can be found nowadays.

The most common subjects written on the white parabaik are the Jataka stories of the Buddha's previous existences, the sky, stars and magic squares. Another most common subject for manuscript illustrations is the court etiquette.
